Eyes To See…

.

By Raymond Linares

What if you had eyes to see exactly what and how your opponent is hitting their kicks? ...

You're sitting in the chair, waiting your turn at the table. You're down 1-3 in a race to 7, but you've played an effective safe... Your opponent finds themselves in a tricky position. Their incoming angle to the rail is determined by traffic and they need to make up the difference between the natural kick line and the path of the object ball with spin...

You're engaged in the happenings of the table, displaying "Active Viewing". You know what needs to happen for you to collect a crucial ball in hand.
You can assess from the seat that your opponent is on an "x" angle ...
You know that the outgoing angle can only be made up by adding "y" spin ....
The opponent takes their aim... shoots... and comes up short....
Most people stop there... objective achieved... ball in hand acquired....

But what if you had eyes to see?
What if, with your robust model, you could quickly and easily assess the exact amount of spin your opponent used?
What if you could read the table dynamics and see where exactly your opponent's intuitions failed?

What if you could quantify this scenario beyond just him missing a kick with spin? What if you could say.. "he needed one value of spin and missed it by this value of spin".... Wouldn't that information be valuable?

What if?....

Later in the match it's 6-6... you're at the table with a position to play safe... You find an opportunity to put your opponent in a similar position... exploiting a known weakness.... You control your safe and leave it in a place where your opponent has demonstrated weakness...

He comes to the table negative... knowing what you know... that he's vulnerable... he kicks, misses and gives up the fatal ball in hand...
You run the rack, shake hands and claim the match... All because you had eyes to see....
